Senior Accountant Full-time

The COMP Performance Group has a full time opening for a qualified and experienced Senior Account to join our organization.

The Senior Accountant responsibilities include reconciling bank statements, maintaining the general ledger and preparing month-end close transactions. A successful Senior Accountant combines a thorough knowledge of accounting principles and excellent analytical skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

·       Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable transactions to the accounting system

·       Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results to management and be able to discuss variances

·       Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency in gathering, classifying, posting and reporting of accounting information

·       Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures

·       Analyze financial information and summarize financial status

·       Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends when required.

·       Ability to multi-task and succeed in a fast paced environment without a drop in productivity.

·       Ability to shift priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

·       Provide input into department’s goal setting process, suggest ideas for improving efficiency and productivity for the role and the department

·       Prepare financial statements and support the annual budget and forecasting process according to schedule

·       Assist with annual financial and worker’s compensation audits by supporting the outside auditors with documentation and analysis as needed

·       Support internal and external audits to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies

·       Support month-end and year-end financial close process by working with the company controller to ensure all journal entries and correcting journal entries have been properly analyzed and entered

·       Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

Knowledge & Skills

·       Previous experience as a Senior accountant

·       Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures

·       Knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

·       Familiarity and comfort with preparing financial accounting statements

·       Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process

·       Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables

·       Accuracy in work product and attention to detail

·       Aptitude for numbers and excellent quantitative skills

Education & Experience:

·       Four Year Degree in Business, Finance or accounting or related discipline preferred; or equivalent experience.

·       Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) will be preferred

·       Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like QuickBooks, Oracle, SAP, S2K, Great Plains is a plus

·       Project management experience is benefit
