The COMP Performance Group has a full time opening for a highly qualified, hands-on and experienced Shipping Manager to join our fast growing organization.

The Shipping Manager is career level position that is responsible for the daily workflow of a high-volume shipping/picking department that services retail customers as well as the dealer/distribution network.

The Shipping Manager is a vital component of the supply chain process and reports directly to the Warehouse Operations Manager.  The Shipping department is compromised of the following areas:  Truck Freight, Less Than Truck Load, Intercompany Shipping and Small Parcel. This position will interface with all major parcel and truck freight carriers. This position works in a finished goods distribution facility which is a warehouse environment coupled with assembly and packaging.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of Shipping/Picking Departmental resources to ensure accurate and efficient productivity, efficient utilization of storage space and equipment, proper protection of materials and company assets while maintaining safety.
  • Assigns and maintains the flow of work; anticipates and investigates delays, inaccuracies, or inadequate performance, and takes corrective action.
  • Oversees staff with an emphasis on empowerment, teamwork, consistency, development, and continuous coaching and feedback.
  • Communicates and delegates plans and goals to staff. Hands-on attitude to work with shipping team to ensure goals are met.
  • Must effectively organize and prioritize daily work-flow and monitor employee performance to maximize efficiency of operations
  • Ensures that the shipping/picking area operates with a focus on complete customer satisfaction and business efficiency.
  • Continuous improvement of processes and procedures as well as ensuring that all workflow is within the context of the ERP/MRP system. Experience with Varsity Shipping Software and/or S2K ERP would be beneficial.
  • Develops and evaluates team members to ensure the efficient operation of the function; provides opportunities for professional development.
  • Identifies root causes and executes effective countermeasures for all shipping/picking errors and non-conformance issues. 
  • Maintains shipping/picking operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Understands the paper flow and process requirements of shipping. Is able to trouble shoot issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintains physical condition of shipping area to meet all government & company standards.
  • Works closely with all other departments to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employee as well as following up on work results.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proven ability to lead and hands-on management experience of shipping/picking team in a high-volume operation.
  • Demonstrated high degree of efficiency, organization, motivation in work habits, and professional image.
  • Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, understand, and drive resolution of complex critical issues.
  • Ability to schedule and prioritize tasks of team to promote the efficient use of time and monitor progress against schedule.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends when required.
  • Ability to multi-task and succeed in a fast paced environment without a drop in productivity.
  • Ability to shift priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work closely with Warehouse Operation Manager to carry-out overall strategy.
  • Interest in automobiles and/or motorsports strongly preferred.

Education & Experience:

  • Four Year Degree in Business, Logistics/Supply Chain Management or related discipline preferred; or equivalent experience.
  • Microsoft Office Suite and proficient computer skills.
  • Experience with Varsity Shipping Software and/or S2K ERP/MRP preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years shipping management experience in a similar fast paced, high volume warehouse environment.
